Charlie Lee & Patrick Rooney qualify for British National Squash Championships

Charlie Lee and Patrick Rooney will join fellow UNSQUASHABLE players James Willstrop, Josh Masters and George Parker in the men’s main draw at this year’s British National Championships in Manchester following a succession of impress performances in the qualification competition.

19-year-old Charlie Lee defeated Christian Ogden 11-1 11-2 11-0, Nick Wall 11-7 11-6 11-4 and Kyle Finch 11-3 11-7 11-3 in just 36 minutes.
“Last year was my first year as a full-time pro but I was injured for the first six months so I couldn’t play in this tournament. It’s nice to qualify first time round,” said Lee, the younger brother of the 2017 Nationals runner-up Joe Lee.
“A 16-man draw makes it a bit tougher and the qualification tournament is like an event itself and a tough one, but I’m looking forward to showing what I can do.”
Awaiting Lee in the 1st round of the main draw will be fellow UNSQUASHABLE player Josh Masters, ranked World No.57 who is also making his debut at the British National Championships.
In an equally impressive qualifying campaign Patrick Rooney defeated Liam Gutcher 11-4 11-5 11-5, Richard King 11-8 11-0 11-3 and Matthew Parks 11-7 11-2 11-2.
In the women’s main draw, UNSQUASHABLE will be used by 2nd seed & former champion Sarah-Jane Perry.
