Charlie Lee shows potential at Channel VAS Championships

Charlie Lee demonstrated his undoubted potential against World No.5 Ali Farag in the 1st round of the Channel VAS Championships being staged at St George’s Hill in Weybridge, England.

Charlie, the reigning English Junior Champion, was awarded the wildcard for the Professional Squash Association (PSA) M100 World Tour event and put in an impressive performance against the in-form Egyptian.
The young Englishman just took the game to his opponent and attacked beautifully to repeatedly force Farag on the backfoot. Charlie created his chances, and took them, forcing Farag to stay focused and run a lot to make sure he’d contain that young hope of English squash.
“I’m happy for not getting completely outclassed!!! I think he had to work to with this today,” said Charlie.
“Ali is such an amazing player, I’m privileged to be on court with him. Actually I played Gaultier in the AJ Bell European Championships and I had a little taste of what might happen tonight! Both matches are extremely beneficial for me.
"Actually, I’m disappointed that I didn’t better. Which is probably a bit silly, and I might change my mind once I look at the score, but I gave away a couple of strokes at the end, which is frustrating. But I guess that after coming back from 6 months injury, I just need to get much stronger and train harder and harder…”
