Jahangir Khan remembers the 1985 WSF World Team Championships when Pakistan beat New Zealand

The 1985 Men's World Team Squash Championships were held in Cairo and Pakistan successfully defended the title with a new team with Qamar Zaman and Maqsood Ahmed replaced by the up and coming Sohail Qaiser (pictured) and Umar Hayat Khan.

In our opening pool matches, we beat West Germany, Sweden, Scotland and Spain, before progressing to the final with wins over Egypt, Australia and Singapore.

In the final in Cairo we beat New Zealand 2-1 – Umar Hayat Khan lost to Stuart Davenport 0-9, 4-9, 9-7 2-9, Sohail Qaiser beat Paul Viggers 9-4 9-2 9-6 and I beat my great rival Ross Norman 9-1 9-3 9-2!

More great memories!
