James Willstrop Withdraws From El Gouna International

James Willstrop has withdrawn from the upcoming El Gouna Squash International after suffering a viral infection that will keep him out of the final Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Series tournament of the season.

The 32-year-old former World No.1 was due to play close friend and training partner Saurav Ghosal in the opening round, but his withdrawal means that his place in the main draw will now be taken Leo Au of Hong Kong.
James, a two time British Champion and former World No.1, had been looking forward to the opportunity of building upon his recent success since using UNSQUASHABLE rackets which has included reaching his seventh British National Squash Championships final in February and  winning the Wimbledon Squash Open in London – his first tournament success since using UNSQUASHABLE.
James also showed his best form at last month’s Allam British Open with a four game victory over World No.6 Tarek Momen of Egypt as well as extending World No.1 Mohamed Elshorbagy whom he defeated in last year’s PSA Men’s World Squash Championship in Seattle.
However, Willstrop a finalist in the 2012 El Gouna Squash International, has been unable to overcome the viral infection which affected his performance at last week’s Grasshopper Cup in Zurich where he lost unexpectedly to Gregoire Marche of France .
Since joining UNSQUASHABLE at the beginning of the year, James Willstrop has used our UNSQUASHABLE Y-TEC PRO racket whilst working with our R&D teams to help develop our next generation of performance rackets. UNSQUASHABLE is committed to developing equipment to be used by the world’s leading players because we believe that engineering equipment for professional competition makes for better a product for the everyday player.
The UNSQUASHABLE Y-TEC PRO racket used by James Willstrop will be available exclusively from www.unsquashable.com
