James Willstrop through to Commonwealth Games semi-finals

James Willstrop has reached the semi-finals of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Men’s Singles with an exhilarating 94-minute 7-11 12-10 7-11 11-6 11-6 victory over Australian No.1 Cameron Pilley after earlier defeating Campbell Grayson of New Zealand 11-8 6-11 11-7 11-7 in the 3rd round.

When asked how easy it is to motivate himself for a fourth Commonwealth Games, Willstrop replied: "It's a more relaxed motivation now maybe - it's not life and death like it is when you're younger. It's probably likely to be my last one," added the 34-year-old. "So I'll try and give everything I can and I hope it works. A multisport event like this is totally different to what we're used to - it's like a super-charged squash event. I usually walk off after an event, but here the world's press line up to talk to me!"

Willstrop will face Nafiizwan Adnan for a place in the final of the Men’s Singles after the Malaysian No.1 produced a shock victory over top seed Nick Matthew of England.
