Joel Makin & Iker Pajares Bernabeu unable to qualify for Hong Kong Open main draw

Joel Makin and Iker Pajares Bernabeu were unable to progress to the main draw of the Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open following defeats in the final round of qualification at the Hong Kong Football Club.

Welsh No.1 and British U23 Champion Joel Makin was beaten 8-11 11-7 11-4 5-11 11-4 in 67 minutes by England international Adrian Waller whilst Spanish No.2 Iker Pajares Bernabeu, who yesterday recorded a stunning 80-minuite victory over England’s Chris Simpson, was beaten 11-8 11-5 11-3 by Lucas Serme of France.
