Joel Makin, Josh Masters & George Parker to contest Irish Open quarter-finals

Joel Makin, Josh Masters and George Parker all progressed to the quarter-finals of the 2018 Irish Squash Open being staged in at the Fitzwilliam Club in Dublin.

Third seed Joel Makin defeated Michael McCue of Canada 11-9 11-9 11-3,  Josh Masters, seeded five, beat Mohd Syafiq Kamal of Malaysia 11-5 11-5 8-11 11-3, whilst eighth seed George Parker overcame Portuguese No.1 Rui Soares 11-9 12-10 12-14 11-4.

Joel Makin will today play Josh Masters to ensure that an UNSQUASHABLE player will be assured of a place in the semi-finals whilst George Parker will play top seed and compatriot Tom Richards.

Patrick Rooney, who qualified impressively for the main draw of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) M15 World Tour event, pushed fellow Englishman Richie Fallows in his 1st round match but was denied a quarterfinal place as his sixth seeded opponent claimed a hard-fought 11-7 11-5 11-9 victory.
