After an eventful second day at the English Junior Championships, five UNSQUASHABLE Junior Ambassadors are through to the quarterfinals of their categories.

The youngest pair of brothers Ali and Ismail Khalil had mixed fortunes in their respective draws. Ali made it to the quarterfinals in a comfortable 3-0 win against Don Calvert. However, Ismail battled through two tie-breaks to go 2-0 up but was unable to convert to win the match.

Charlie McCrone started her campaign as the second seed in the Girls’ Under-13 with a match against Holly Hale. With the first two games comfortably won, her opponent threatened to take the third but Charlie managed to close out the match 11-9 for a straight set victory.

In the Boys’ Under-15s, Yusuf Sheikh once again secured a comfortable win against his opponent for a place in the quarters. Harry Bloomfield on the other hand had a tough game against Thomas Scott, and like Ismail, fell in five-sets.

In the Girls’ Under-17 top seeded Saran Nghiem cruised to quarterfinal with a comfortable straight-set win. Saran will now face Olivia Besant and Max will face Noah Meredith in the next round.

The top draw of Boys’ Under-19 saw both UNSQUASHABLE junior ambassadors Jack Mitterer and Max Forster move into the quarterfinals with comfortable straight sets wins over their respective opponents.
