The Welsh international, Joel Makin, stormed his way into the quarter final of the Oracle NetSuite Open after beating Junior World champion 2-0 in the second round.

The world no.13 then came up against no.2 seed Tarek Momen, who had a fierce 46 minute match. Momen took the first 11-7 but Makin responded with a 11-5 win in the second before narrowly lost 11-7 in the third and final game.

Makin will put this match behind him as he prepares for the US Open later this week.
