It proved to be a day of exciting quarterfinal matches at Squash On Fire in Washington D.C. teams fought for a spot in the semifinals.

The first UNSQUASHABLE ambassador on court was Joel Makin. He came on court after a masterclass win by Peter Creed over Alan Clyne, and was looking to finish off the match for a historic semifinal spot for Wales. Though he won in straight sets, the game was close and Joel had to push to win 15-13, 11-8, 11-5 in just under an hour.

Iker Pajares was up first for Spain’s match against third-seeded France. He set his team up for a good start after beating former World No. 1 Gregory Gaultier. The match pushed both players to their limits with three out of the four sets going to a tie-break. Ultimately, Iker won 13-11, 11-7, 12-14, 12-10 in an 84-minute marathon match. However, the French team won the next two ties to prevent Spain from reaching the semifinals.

In the consolation quarterfinals, Todd Harrity had a straightforward game against Jamaica, winning 11-4, 11-7, 11-2 in just 20 minutes.
